Getting from the Valley to LAX is a bigger job than the map suggests. Depending on the hour, the trip over the Sepulveda Pass can take thirty minutes or ninety. The airport itself is a maze of terminals, one-way loops, and pickup zones. A professional driver does not make the traffic disappear, but he knows when to leave, which route to choose, and where to stop.
Planning Around the 405

The 405 is the main artery between the Valley and LAX, and it has a reputation for good reason. Rush hour in both directions can slow it to a crawl, and weekend evenings are often just as bad. A few patterns help.
- Early morning, before 6 a.m.: Usually the lightest traffic. Most early flights fall into this window.
- Mid-morning to early afternoon: Variable but often manageable.
- Late afternoon, roughly 3 to 7 p.m.: The worst stretch. If you fly in the evening, leave earlier than you think you need to.
- Sunday evenings: Often busy, thanks to weekend travelers returning home.
We plan pickup times with these windows in mind. If you tell us your flight time, we will recommend a departure that leaves a comfortable margin.
How the LAX Ride Works

Departures. Your driver arrives at your address, loads your bags, and heads for the terminal. At LAX, he pulls up to the departure level at your airline’s terminal, helps you unload, and leaves you at the curb.
Arrivals. We track your flight, so a delay changes your pickup time, and not your ride. LAX has specific pickup rules for commercial vehicles, and your driver follows them. We tell you where to meet before you travel. After you collect your bags, the driver loads the car and takes you home.
Terminals and Airlines
LAX has multiple terminals, and the layout confuses even experienced travelers. Your driver will confirm your airline’s terminal on the day before the ride. If your flight is an international one, mention it. International departures often run from a different terminal than domestic ones, and the process takes longer.
Choosing a Vehicle
For solo travelers and couples, a Lincoln town car or sedan is the practical option. If you are traveling with the family and lots of luggage, an SUV offers more room. A group heading out on a trip together, like a wedding party or a bachelorette weekend, can ride in a stretch limousine or a party bus and start the trip early.
Looking Ahead to 2028
Los Angeles hosts the Summer Olympic Games in July 2028, and traffic around LAX and across the region will be heavier than usual during that time. If you plan to travel then, booking early is a good idea, and building extra time into airport transfers is even better. We will be updating our planning guidance as the schedule takes shape.
Why Not Just Use a Rideshare?
Sometimes that is fine. But a rideshare is a bet. You do not know who will arrive, how long you will wait, or what the price will be when demand spikes. For an early flight or a connection you cannot miss, a reserved driver is a safer bet. You get a confirmed time, a known rate, and a person who is expecting you.
Common Questions
How early should I leave for LAX?
For domestic flights, plan to be at the airport two hours before departure. For international flights, three hours. Then add travel time based on traffic. We can help you work out the departure time.
What if my flight lands at midnight?
Late arrivals are common. Tell us your flight number and we will confirm a pickup. We track flights, so delays are handled.
Do you handle large amounts of luggage?
Yes, with the right vehicle. Tell us how many bags and what size, and we will recommend what fits.
